It’s a blessing that in their “soundwalks” the duo avoid drifting off into tentative New Age wish-wash – it’s two experts that are at work here. And so we marvel at Thalheim’s empathy in responding to the soprano and alto saxophone’s singing without giving in to the temptation of causing a stir by pulling out some more stops. And we delight in the saxophonist’s lyrical and introverted tone as she is setting her emotional highlights – in moderation and therefore all the more effectively.
